We loved it there! Great room, beautiful beach, large pools. Great buffet restaurant! And the friendliest staff ever! One little note: If you have mobility issues be aware the beach has a slope that can make it tricky to get out of the water unassisted and the toilets are quite low.

I was not impressed with the temperature of the food when being served at the restaurant(s) in this resort. The food tasted as though it was pre-cooked which took away the delicacy of the flavors. I also felt the food could have been seasoned slightly better to the authentic level of Antigua. Being a decendant of the country, i feel as though they are a little shy in this area. Apart from the above, its a beautiful hotel for aesthetics.

The property itself was nice, lovely bedroom and beach area. The staff were friendly and attentive too. The reason for the 2 star rating is that the quality of food and drink was terrible, and that is a large part of what you are paying for at an all-inclusive resort. Cocktails at the sports bar tasted of chemicals and the food at the buffet was passable at best. Breakfast was worse, with cold, half-cooked poached eggs, slimy and tough smoked salmon and inedible pastries. I would never visit this resort again.

My room was nice. But I really wasn’t sure if it was cleaned thoroughly. Why, the bathroom had hair in it. The staff cannot just surface clean. People like me do check the beds and corners. Also, the rooms supplies were not stocked in time before I arrived back to my room. And I never found the safe.

We were amazed at how great the Royalton was!! Some of the reviews are a little concerning but we took a chance and had a fantastic vacation. We travel all over the world but would definitely make time in our travel itinerary to return to the Royalton Antigua. It was by far one of our best vacations. Food was excellent- the buffets(we had breakfast and lunch and the lunch especially had a lot of delicious healthy options), Hunter steakhouse, Scores, Grazie, desserts were great all around especially the cheesecake(and we’re from NY), chocolate cake apple pie. Coffee and gelato shop was always a pleasure to go to. We didn’t try the Caribbean restaurant this trip but it looked good too. The pool is lovely(one of the pools was closed for renovation) and the small beach was really very nice. We didn’t go to the gym or spa. Gift shop had a nice selection too. Room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. The parts of the property we saw were clean. Someone was always cleaning. The majority of the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and comfortable. The bell staff, cleaning staff, gift shop and restaurant staff(shout out to Hazelden in the buffet who always had a smile and was so nice to talk to) were all kind, attentive and helpful. Property lit well and we felt safe. Incredible, memorable vacation we’ll always cherish and hope to return soon. We can’t say enough good things and don’t get some of the more negative reviews but we can only speak from our experience.

Overall Experience: 7/10 Antigua was a wonderful place to visit, but there’s definitely room for improvement. The dining options were just okay — the best part was definitely the buffet, which offered a nice variety of choices. The room cleanliness was decent, but there were quite a few flies. They really need better fly control, especially around the restaurants and outdoor dining areas. It’s hard to fully enjoy your meal when there are so many flies around.

It’s a small resort. Staff was great. Good food at the buffet and restaurants. Kids area kept the kids busy with kids pool, play area and kids play house. The pools were going renovations.
